2-Phenoxyethanol is a high-purity (≥99%, GC) glycol ether used as a broad-spectrum preservative in cosmetics and personal care (a paraben alternative), and as a fragrance fixative. Industrial grades serve coatings and ink coalescing, biocide and disinfectant formulations, and industrial cleaning. With a flash point above 100 °C, it is not classified as dangerous goods for transport.
